What is open source? That means in a software for which source codes and certain other rights normally reserved for copyrights holders are provided under a software license that meets the Open source definition . This permits users to use, change, and improve the software, and to redistribute it in modified or unmodified forms. It is very often developed in a public, collaborative manner. Open source software is the most prominent example of open source development and often compared to user generated content. The term open source software originated as part of a marketing campaign for free software. In undeveloped countries they are mostly using the open source software’s .There are so many examples for that .If we want to develop a web site there r so many solutions in the open source .PHP is a good example for it .We know PHP is a open source server side programming language when we are using a PHP script file we need a server, no need to worry we have a open source server APACHE, and we need a DATA BASE there are so many open source databases, like MYSQL. We can use open source CMS software’s for develop a web page easily. There are so many open source CMS software s in the internet we can download and use it.open source operating systems also have like linux.we no need license for that. It is extensible, standards-compliant, and strives for clean code and a small footprint. Drupal ships with basic core functionality, and additional functionality is gained by the installation of modules. Drupal is designed to be customized, but customization is done by overriding the core or by adding modules, not by modifying the code in the core. It also successfully separates content management from content presentation. Drupal can be used to build an Internet portal, a personal, corporate web Site, an e-commerce site, a resource directory, an online newspaperman image gallery; and an Intranet, to mention only a few.
Drupal it’s a free software package that allows an individual or a community of users to easily publish, manage and organize a wide variety of content on a website. Tens of thousands of people and organizations are using Drupal to power scores of different web sites.
Drupal is only supports for PHP .But it’s runs in any platform. For an example (Windows, Mac, Linux, UNIX) .Dupal is open source software so we can free download through internet.

We can say shortly as CMS .A CMS is a collection of procedures. It’s using for managing and controlling the dynamic web contents. We can allow for large number of people to contribute to and share stored data, control access to data, based on user roles, User roles are used to define each use as to what information they can view or edit, aid in easy storage and retrieval of data, reduce repetitive duplicate input, improve the ease of report writing, improve the ease of report writing. In a CMS, data can be defined as almost anything – documents, movies, pictures, phone numbers, scientific data, etc. CMSs are frequently used for storing, controlling, revising, and publishing documentation. Content that is controlled is industry-specific. There are 6 main categories of CMS. Enterprise CMS, Web CMS, Document Management System, Component Content Management System, Media Content Management System. Here some examples for Content management System. Drupal, Joomla, OS commerce, Zen cart.etc. Very easy to developing shopping carts, web based programs, dynamic web pages.
